The 33rd Street Armory was built in 1920 and has since been acquired by Drexel University for use as an athletic facility and event space. The building is located centrally on campus and nearby a historic residential neighborhood. Its location and the lack of commercial food markets in the are opened the opportunity to develop it as a public marketplace. The size of the building welcomed additional programming, including: auditoriums, classroom spaces, and galleries.
